We do not need to change the Constitution in order to restore Restore Constitutional Principles. There are remedies which already exist. Granted there are challenges to all of these remedies because of how far off course we are from the original intent of the Constitution, but efforts advocating we Restore the Constitution should certainly be informing the electorate of mechanisms we already have in place under the Constitution. Among the remedies for the abuses of the U.S. Constitution: 1. Elections - we can vote out senators, house members, the President. Of course election integrity is a major concern, but we must continuously work to expose and address corruption in our elections. 2. Legislation can undo unconstitutional laws and programs, for instance the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. 3. Article I has a procedure to impeach, try and remove the President, Vice President, and civil officers , including judges. 4. Harmful Amendments should be nullified by new Amendments: ie, 17th Amendment which changed the method of selecting Senators from being chosen by the State Legislators as ambassadors of the the State to popular vote - their role should be returned to guardians of state sovereignty. 5. Article I, Section 7, grants the House of Representatives power of the purse - a majority in the House can use this power to terminate unconstitutional programs and foreign aid. Ending foreign aid, unconstitutional programs and size of government is the only real path forward to fiscal responsibility. 6. The Constitution can be amended to correct perceived deficiencies or cancel previous Amendments. For instance 18th Amendment (Prohibition) nullified by the 21st Amendment (Repeal of Prohibition). Amendments should only address defects in the body of the Constitution, not in place of legislative action. 7. 14th Amendment's true meaning and limitations must be restored. Its purpose was to to further guarantee that citizens could not be deprived of "life, liberty without due process," or be denied "equal protection of the laws."; 14th Amendment has been cited by the Supreme Court to ban prayer in schools, legalize abortion - this Amendment has been used by the courts to build federal power. 8. State Legislatures should pass resolutions to reinforce the restrictions of the 10th Amendment asserting States Rights. 9. State officials should refuse federal aid which brings with it conditions and federal control. All aid packages come with strings attached. If state government officials throughout the nation refuse this type of funding, federal aid programs could be stopped, federal overreach curtailed and state independence can be reasserted. If we cannot even get our elected officials to utilize some of these methods which already exist, no change to the Constitution is going to compel them to employ those either. We need more of an informed electorate who understands these various remedies and can elect and support candidates who also understand their role in restoring our Constitution.
